The Orangutan Book

Orangutans only exist in the wild on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo. Each year their numbers diminish as their natural habitat is destroyed and now they are critically endangered.

The Orangutan Book was designed as an activity to highlight the plight of the orangutans to young children. The project required a gentle approach in teaching why we should save these wonderful creatures. The Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS) has already distributed the Sumatran version and pictured below are some of the school children from Ketambe, Ache with their books. The aim of the project is to promote a positive image of the primate population in Sumatra, whilst having a bit of fun.
